Site waste management plans have been in place for several years. I have not seen any adverse comment on their implementation on the "big" projects. Is there any induced usage of them on smaller projects? In other words are they a cost-reduction methodology or what?
From what I have seen, SWMPs merely formalise many of the things that demolition contractors have been doing for years - let's face it, no (European) contractor would send anything to landfill that could turn a few dollars!!
As a company we have been recycling materials since 1982 before it became fashionable to do so and have been doing recycling profiles on our jobs since before SWMP's were even thought of, so as has been said already nothing new to the industry many have been doing this for donkeys years the only difference now is it has a fancy title.
